In the video the Consultant explains that gout is one of the most painful forms of arthritis, effecting middle-aged men in the main, and, that issues such as obesity, high alcohol intake and genetic factors (not clearly understood) raises the risk of an attack.

He also says that gout is a warning sign for a whole range of metabolic associated diseases associated with gout, so that many lifestyle issues need to be looked at, not just the gout itself. e.g. alcohol, weight, diet, etc.  

As you heard in the video, he is also at pains to point out the, sometimes severe, side effects of mainstream medication in treating gout symptoms.

And he also points out that you need to prevent further gout attacks (chronic gout) that can lead to permanent damage. In mainstream gout treatment this means long term uric acid reducing drugs, such as Allopurinol, which can also have bad side effects.

As a medical man, he doesn’t talk about the natural remedies that can do all that drugs can, i.e. eliminate the pain and symptoms, plus, lower your uric acid levels to prevent further gout attacks.  Although, he does talk about dietary changes to reduce uric acid, which is only one of the ‘natural’ approaches to a gout remedy.
