“How do I get rid of gout in my foot without drugs?” I keep getting asked this all the time. It’s not surprising really since the vast majority of gout attacks happen in the big toe joint. And, of course, more and more gout sufferers are either, fed up of using drug-based medications because of their horrible side effects, or, because of their ongoing cost.
If you’re one of these, then you’ve come to the right place. Here, I’m going to give you the one tip that always got rid of gout in my foot when I used it, and without resorting to drug-based meds.
So what is this ‘magic’ natural remedy for gout? Well, it’s bicarbonate of soda, otherwise known as baking soda. Yes, that stuff you have had sitting in your cupboard or fridge for — it seems like – forever, can produce some stunning results. And it can work pretty quickly too, with many gout sufferers reporting that they can feel the beneficial effects within a couple of hours.
Remember, as a gout victim, you need to dissolve and flush out the uric acid crystals in your foot. Plus, you also need to excrete the excess uric acid in your bloodstream so as to lower your uric acid levels in your body.
Well, baking soda can do all that and more. It helps to dissolve the crystals and increases the solubility of uric acid to make it easier to excrete from your body. And because you take it mixed in water, it also increases your body fluid volume which helps your kidneys process and flush the excess uric acid out of your body. And, if that isn’t enough, it also boosts your urine pH which helps to reduce the risk of kidney stone formation.
Here’s how to take it…
Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to about 8 ounces of water in a large glass and stir well until the soda powder has completely dissolved. Then take as follows…
- 1 glass before bedtime
- 1 glass on getting up in the morning before breakfast
- 1 glass every two to four hours between meals
- Repeat the schedule everyday until your symptoms disappear
- Never take more than the equivalent of 4 teaspoons of baking soda in any 24 hour period, i.e. 8 glasses.
- Change to a salt-free or low sodium diet, whilst taking this remedy, since baking soda already has very high sodium levels.
- If you suffer from hypertension, then discuss this remedy with your doctor before attempting it.
But, did you notice in the introduction how I said that this gout home remedy always got rid of gout in my foot? In other words, I was still getting gout attacks in my foot.
This remedy can certainly help relieve the symptoms of gout, but it can’t prevent it from happening again. And preventing frequently recurring gout is important because of the dangers of possible kidney problems and permanent joint damage further down the line.
It wasn’t until I became aware of the many issues surrounding gout, such as; diet, lifestyle, weight, medications, underlying medical conditions, etc., that I was finally able to prevent my recurring gout. And so far, so good!
