Alfalfa for Gout Pain Relief
An excellent herbal remedy for gout is Alfalfa. It is a perennial found in many areas throughout the world, and, because of its very deep rooted system, can very efficiently absorb a variety of nutrients from the soil. Because of this, Alfalfa is very rich in minerals, essential amino acids, vitamin and nutrients, etc.
Typical of its minerals and vitamins are; zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous, and, vitamins B1, B6, A, C, and D.
Alfalfa works by helping to neutralize and reduce high uric acid levels in your blood, but it also has natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. So it is a very good choice for gout relief.
It can be taken as a tea made from its leaves, or in supplement form, through capsules, tablets or liquid extracts.
Although generally safe to take at the recommended doses, it is best to first consult your health-care provider before taking the remedy, as large doses of Alfalfa can have some negative side effects.
For example large doses may; encourage menstruation and so lead to miscarriage in pregnant women; interfere with proper iron absorption in the body; cause a blood disorder that affects clotting and white blood cells, etc.
Of course this is only one of a whole raft of herbs being used for gout. For more information on herbal and other natural remedies for gout, including diet, see The Gout Remedy Report.
