If you’ve landed here, then it’s because you’ve been searching for natural remedies for gout. Maybe you’ve tried drug-based medications and they haven’t worked for you, or, their side effects are just too bad, or, the cost just keeps mounting up. Whatever the reason, you’ve landed at the right place, because here I reveal 7 natural herbal remedies for gout — well 6 actually! plus one other which isn’t a herb (lol)…
Saffron helps to combat the symptoms of gout before they get too bad, by neutralizing the build-up of uric acid in your blood.
Nettle contains alkaloids which can help to neutralize uric acid.
Parsley is a natural diuretic that helps to flush excess uric acid from your body.
Hydrangea has been shown to have natural anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce gout inflammation.
Hawthorn has anthocyanosides which are natural anti-inflammatory and also flavonoids, all of which are effective in treating the symptoms of gout.
Spearmint can be used to alleviate the pain in your joints. Make up a poultice of spearmint leaves and apply around the joint.
Water. No natural remedy for gout can be complete without water. Water can help prevent uric acid crystal formation and in the excretion of excess uric acid from your body. Drink at least 12 x 8oz glasses per day.
Now, where can you get the herbs shown above? Well, you should be able to get them in your local health food store or even your local market. And you’ll also find there many more herbal remedies for gout. Just ask the assistant or store owner for help.
You should also be aware that sometimes we find that a herb, or combination of herbs, can be very effective for one person, but not for another and vice versa, because each person is different. You are best to see which herbs, or combination of herbs, works best for you. Keep a diary of what you take and their outcomes until you discover the herb, or combination, that’s right for you.
But, of course, as I’ve said throughout this website on numerous occasions, you not only have to find a remedy for the symptoms of gout, you must also prevent your gout returning time and time again, e.g. recurring gout.
And I say this, not just because of the necessity to prevent the agonies of gout, but also to prevent the possible permanent joint damage that can occur through recurring gout. Oh! and also the possibility of kidney problems such as excruciating kidney stones.
So you’ll need more than natural herbal remedies. You’ll also need to consider a whole raft of other key issues, such as your weight, diet, lifestyle, medications, family history, and more…
